Thinking about a sprocket swap? See exactly what it does to your gearing, your rpm and your speed, before you spend a dollar.

What changes
+7.1% shorter gearing
How it works: gear ratio is rear teeth divided by front teeth. A bigger ratio means shorter gearing, a smaller ratio means taller gearing. The rpm and speed figures scale from the one reading you give it, so use a speed and rpm you have actually seen on your own bike, in the same gear, for both setups.
After a sprocket change, check chain length and clearance, and check your speedometer against a known speed. A different sprocket size can mean the chain needs a different length, and the speedometer reading will change with the gearing, so do not trust the old reading until you have checked it.
